At the time, a group of wealthy locals were looking to rent a house on the Black, and they were willing to pay around $400 per night to have the ghost of their dead fiancee come to town.
It was so frightening, it was so creepy, they called it the Blackhouse, and the hotel has continued to this day as one of Melbourne’s most popular haunts.
Barry Hall’s Haunted Mansion (Lachlan Hill) You’ve got to see it to believe it.
Located at the base of Lachlan, the Barry Hall Mansion is one of the largest haunted houses in Melbourne.
Built in 1893, the grounds were later transformed into a school and now house some of the most famous children’s stories in Australia.
If you’re into the supernatural, the Hall Mansion has a large library full of ghost stories and illustrations.
A Victorian Victorian mansion that is more than just a ghostly experience.
There are no limits to what you can do inside this house.
From exploring the Victorian countryside, to exploring the gardens of the Barry House, the possibilities are endless.

This Victorian mansion in Melbourne’s north is filled with history and is a must-see for anyone who’s ever loved a Victorian.
In the 1920s, the man who built this Victorian estate was a prominent figure in the Victorian underworld.
His house is known as the Black Palace, and it’s located just north of the Black house, where you can also find the Victorian mansion.
After a century of living in the Black and white, you can find yourself falling in love with the old house.
Mulholland House (Melbourne Central) The Mulhollands house is a Victorian mansion on Mulholls Hill, just north-west of Melbourne Central.
It’s home to the Mulhoolies.
You can walk through the grounds, explore the gardens, and even take in the sunset.
As well as the Mulhs, you also have the option of visiting the Black Horse pub in the gardens.
Another popular haunt in Melbourne is the Victorian House of Horror.
Built between the 1830s and 1840s, this mansion is located in the heart of the Mulhill neighbourhood.
While this house is not as spooky as the other haunts, you will still want to be careful.
Don’t expect to get lost, but don’t be surprised if you can’t find your way out of the house.
There is a CCTV system in place and you can use it to locate your way in.
Just remember that if you fall in love, you should be prepared for the dark side.
